The Barren River Fire Department relies on volunteer firefighters. These men and women come from all walks of life, but all have one thing in common - at a moments notice, they put their lives on the line for their community. Our members include mechanics, factory workers, career firefighters, police officers, and students. Once you are accepted into our program, you will recieve many hours of intensive training. You will be given the knowledge and the tools necessary to perform at the scene of an emergency. Once you have successfully completed your probationary period and required training, you will be provided with standard issue firefighting gear and fire pager. You will also become eligible for our incentive programs.  BRFD accepts transfers as well. Provided your training records are up to date, we will offer you a familiarization course on Barren River apparatus and Standard Operating Procedures. You will soon be accepted as a Barren River firefighter.
